Yes. Nauticoat sticks very well to any molded-in, non-skid, properly installed, and well-maintained aggregate-type non-skid paints. All you need to do is ensure that the surface is tidy before starting the installation process. Suppose an aggressive texture characterizes your surface; we recommend that you send photos to our Customer Service Team via sales@Nauticoat.com

The most recommended method is the use of Ultimate Clean, which is a genuine Nauticoat branded cleaner. The cleaner is specifically designed to be used with PE/EVA foam. Suppose you cannot locate Ultimate Clean; you can easily wash your mat with soap, hot water, and a stiff brush. Suppose there are stubborn areas; feel free to use a variety of household products. Please note that you should not use acid-based cleaners like Marykate’s Hull Cleaner.

To ensure the best results, you are recommended to use a fresh-bladed razor knife. Additionally, you may need to change blades in between the jobs depending on the amount of cuts you’ve made.

It is not recommended to attempt seam or, rather, butt the ends of any Nauticoat sheet together; with time, the PE/EVA blended material has the chance to shrink naturally up to ¼”, and because of that, you are required to leave a ½” gap between parts.

Nauticoat comes with a 3-year warranty. However, with proper maintenance and care, you can expect an extended lifespan. It could help if you knew that our in-house lab carries out constant tests of various substrates to ensure that there’s the best possible bond.

It would be best if you understood that Nauticoat is designed for semi-permanent installation, but they can be removed. The most appropriate method to remove the pad is by using a plastic putty knife to help you access under one corner, then grip and pull it off. Suppose the PE/EVA looks like it is tearing and sticking; start applying small amounts of acetone to the PSA as you continue lifting with the putty knife. You may also want to enlist other people to help you. Upon removing the entire pad, you will notice a small amount of PSA left on the surface. Soak it with mineral spirits for about 10 minutes, and scrape off with the plastic putty knife and a clean rag. After getting rid of the PSA, utilize tour acetone to remove the mineral spirits.

Ensure that your surface is washed thoroughly and left to dry. Before beginning installation, wipe off the surface with 99% isopropyl alcohol and use a new clean rag to get rid of any dirt, sweat, sunscreen, wax and other foreign services. Suppose the boat is new; repeat the procedure several times since new boats are associated with residual mold release that may hinder adhesion. Ensure that you also check both the local and state laws concerning chemicals before you use questionable substances in water.

The most recommended temperature for the application of Nauticoat is above 60 degrees Fahrenheit when conditions are dry.

Whenever you want to keep your pets firmly planted on the boat, we recommend that you use Nauticoat even though the product is made from PE/EVA blended foam materials. Therefore, when it is scratched or clawed enough, the product is prone to rip and tear. With that being said, Nauticoat’s closed-cell material will not be able to absorb water if destroyed. Our product has no warranty against pet damage.

Nauticoat is very good stain resistant, but there are a few substances like fuel stabilizers, rust, bird droppings, and mustard that are a bit daunting if they are not taken seriously. Therefore, prompt attention to these spills will guarantee easy removal.
